Kaveny Named to Super Lawyers’ Top 50 Women List

Following High-Profile $6.75 Million Medical Malpractice Suit Settlement, BWMK Partner Elizabeth Kaveny Named One of Illinois Super Lawyers' Top 50 Women in 2015

Recognized for Distinguished Career in Personal Injury and Medical Malpractice Law

In recognition of an acclaimed professional career featuring numerous successful verdicts and settlements in favor of plaintiffs suffering from personal injury and medical malpractice, BWMK Partner Elizabeth A. Kaveny has been named one of Illinois Super Lawyers' Top 50 2015 Women. Kaveny was among the recipients of the highest point totals in the Super Lawyers nomination, research and blue ribbon review process.

This is Kaveny's 10th consecutive year as a member of this elite group, having been selected for the first time in 2006.

The 2015 Illinois Super Lawyers designation follows Kaveny's high-profile December 2014 brain damage medical malpractice lawsuit settlement, negotiated with fellow BWMK Partner Kevin G. Burke. The suit was filed in Cook County on behalf of Judith Strzalka, a 68-year-old woman who was misdiagnosed in 2009 as having had a stroke. A viral infection left her with pervasive impairments.

Owing to her strong and sustained record of successfully litigating cases such as Strzalka's, Illinois Super Lawyers recognizes Kaveny for the 10th year in a row as one of the state's top female legal professionals from more than 70 practice areas. The selection process includes independent research, peer nomination and peer evaluation.

"It's really an amazing thrill to be acknowledged by my peers in the legal community, and even more humbling to experience this kind of professional validation for 10 straight years," said Kaveny. "It's motivation to keep working on behalf of those who may be unable to advocate for themselves."
