BWMK Partner Elizabeth Kaveny Speaks at Swearing-In Ceremony for Cook County Circuit Judge Jerry Esrig

Elizabeth A. Kaveny, name partner in noted Chicago plaintiffs' law firm Burke Wise Morrissey Kaveny (BWMK), was one of the speakers at the October 30, 2013 ceremony at which attorney Jerry Esrig was sworn in as Cook County Circuit Judge in the Ninth Judicial Subcircuit. Illinois Supreme Court Justice Mary Jane Theis presided over the ceremony, attended by some 100 friends, families and colleagues of Judge Esrig, who was appointed to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Allen S. Goldberg. The event was detailed in the November 4, 2013 edition of Evanston Patch.

Ms. Kaveny began her legal career by practicing for five years (1992 to 1997) at the Chicago firm of Epstein, Zaideman & Esrig P.C., which Judge Esrig had co-founded in 1984. In her remarks she praised as a former colleague his compassion, humanity and integrity. Judge Esrig's firm has represented profoundly injured individuals, which has Ms. Kaveny's focus throughout her legal career. During that career Ms. Kaveny has obtained numerous verdicts and settlements of plaintiff personal injury, medical malpractice and professional malpractice actions, each in excess of $1 million and some at more than $10 million. In October 2013 Ms. Kaveny was recognized among "The Top Women Attorneys in Illinois," as jointly presented by Thomson Reuters and Chicago Magazine, for her accomplishments in the practice areas of personal injury plaintiff – medical malpractice; personal injury plaintiff – general; and general litigation.
